It has been a time of shock and grief at Chaosium this past week, following the sudden death of our beloved company founder, Greg Stafford, on October 11. Our thoughts and prayers are with Suzanne, Greg’s children Noah, Alisha, and Jason, and their families.
Greg's long-standing impact on the world of tabletop gaming has been revolutionary, to the point RPG designer John Wick coined "Stafford's Law" - "If you believe you've come up with a clever rule for RPG design, Greg Stafford already did it".
Greg's first-ever release was a board game, White Bear Red Moon in 1975. Among the many wonderful fruits of his imagination and creativity, it was a pleasure for us to bring Greg together with another revolutionary designer, Renier Knizia, for Khan of Khans, Chaosium's return to making board games in 2016. Here's Greg demoing the game at Gen Con that year:
We have also created a special Condolence Thread at our BRP Central forums for messages from the gaming community of condolence, and remembrance, and celebration, about Greg Stafford.

Dear MU Scholars,
Our $100K Stretch Goal was an upgrade to a deluxe box with a hinged lid - and here's the prototype! The game box is designed to resemble an old tome. It even has an Orne Library "Restricted Collection - Not To Be Removed" docket on the inside cover. When closed, the horrific secrets of the Restricted Collection stay firmly enclosed by the box's magnetic seal.
We have approved the prototype, including the blanks of the cards, player desks, and rulebook inside. Take a look...

Backerkit invitations going out

After the short delay we let you know about in our last update, Backerkit got back to us with this message:

So we've pressed the button (again). In another new feature from Backerkit called the "Smoke Test", the email invitation will firstly go out to 5% of MU backers:

So don't worry if you don't get your invitation right away, it just means you're in the second (95%) batch which we'll be able to send out once the Smoke Test is completed.
Here's What Happens Next...
You will soon receive an email invitation to join Backerkit, our chosen fulfilment partner. We are using Backerkit to help us track and ship your rewards.
Once you join Backerkit, you'll be able to verify or update your shipping address. You will also be able to purchase add-ons, including extra copies of the game, and copies of Khan of Khans, our previous Reiner Knizia game. These physical rewards will be delivered by November.
Backerkit also has all the costs for shipping (good news! these are almost exactly the same as the estimated shipping rates we listed in the Kickstarter campaign).
Please note we will not be locking down your order until at least the end of September. Until then:
you will be able to add, delete or modify your add-ons
you can update your shipping address and contact details
you won't be charged for shipping and any add ons until after we've locked down orders.
We will be using Backerkit to deliver your PDF rewards, including the PDF diplomas, graduate student forms, and MU short story. When these are ready, we'll let you know via a Kickstarter update and message from Backerkit. You then log on to Backerkit and download the reward.
We anticipate having the PDF diplomas and graduate student forms available for download in August, and the MU short story in September.
